Case Study: How Did Technoknowledge Roll Out ITEC in 25 SEF Schools?
How we trained 45 teachers and rolled out the ITEC coding curriculum in 25 Sindh Education Foundation schools to strengthen digital literacy.
Most schools can find a computer teacher. Fewer can find one who is ready to teach coding to a Grade 3 class on Monday morning. That gap is what this project set out to close.
The Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) wanted stronger digital literacy in its schools. We worked with SEF to roll out our ITEC curriculum in 25 of them, and to train the teachers who would deliver it.
What did we do?
Two things, side by side.
- We trained 45 teachers. They built skills in coding, programming, developing technologies and teaching methods. The point was not only to teach them to code, but to teach them how to teach coding to children.
- We rolled out ITEC in 25 SEF schools. ITEC is our full-year, coding-based computer science curriculum for Grades 1 to 8. Students move from computer basics and logic to block coding, then to real languages and app building.
Training and curriculum went together on purpose. A good curriculum in the hands of an unprepared teacher stays on the shelf. A well-trained teacher with no curriculum has to invent a year of lessons alone.
Why does the teacher side matter so much?
Because the teacher is the one in the room. When we plan a roll-out, we ask a simple question: after we leave, who keeps this going? In a school, the answer is always the same person, the teacher.
That is why the training covered teaching methods as well as coding and programming, and why teachers learn to deliver ITEC through our LMS, where lessons, quizzes and results live.
What did schools get?
- A full-year plan for every grade, so no teacher starts from a blank page
- Trained teachers who can deliver it
- Lessons, assignments and reports in one place on the LMS
What can we say about results?
We would rather be straight with you. We have not published learning-result numbers for this project, so we are not quoting any here. What we can say is what was delivered: 45 teachers trained and ITEC running in 25 schools.
